NCEMNA 5th Annual Conference

Creating Research Careers:

"Leading the Way"

March 13-15, 2009

 

Dear Colleagues:

 

NCEMNA is pleased to announce its Fifth Annual Conference, “Creating Research Careers: Leading The Way”  The goal of this conference is to stimulate and inform ethnic minority nurses to growing opportunities in research.  The Conference will be held at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown, Albuquerque, NM March 13-15, 2009. 

NCEMNA: Nurse Scientist Stimulation Program is sponsored by NIGMS, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services. The $2.4 million grant is for a five-year program to increase the number of nurse scientists reflecting the nation's diversity. 

Mentee/Mentor Program: Funding for this program covers travel, lodging, food and conference costs. This award is available only to those belonging to NCEMNA member organizations. These organizations include the Asian American/Pacific Islander Nurses Assn., Inc. (AAPINA), the National Alaska Native American Indian Nurses Assn., Inc. (NANAINA), the National Assn. of Hispanic Nurses, Inc. (NAHN), the National Black Nurses Assn., Inc., (NBNA), and the Philippine Nurses Assn. of America, Inc., (PNAA). 

Incentive Scholarships: To accomplish our goals, we invite local, Albuquerque Schools of Nursing to participate in this upcoming conference, we will award 45 faculty and students in the Albuquerque area to attend the conference. These scholarships will cover the cost of registration including all sessions and meals. 

Abstract Presentations: we invite ethnic minority nurse researchers and students to submit abstracts for poster presentation during its 4th Annual research conference. Abstracts of completed or on-going studies focusing on expanding the knowledge base to alleviate health disparities of ethnic minority populations are invited

General Registrants: This conference will be an excellent learning experience for Nurse Students, Faculty and clinicians interested in ethnic nurse practice.  Registration is available to others also interested in attending.

If you are interested in participating in NCEMNA’s Research Training and Mentoring program, please complete the Mentee or Mentor Application by clicking on the links above. Your response will be used to help us in selecting 50 mentees and 25 mentors to participate in this significant RTM program.  Submission deadline is October 1, 2008.  Please note that if you were a 2005, 2006, or 2007 mentee, you are not eligible to apply for 2008 mentee appointment.
