DAISY Foundation Issues Call for Applications to Fund Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practices
GLEN ELLEN, CA, Oct 28, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- New funding is available for nurses seeking to improve treatment of patients with auto-immune diseases and cancer, through a series of grants being awarded by the DAISY Foundation. Applications are now being accepted for the foundation's J. Patrick Barnes Research Grant, which funds nursing research and evidence-based practice projects.
Two types of grants will be awarded: large grants of up to $5,000 for projects that can be completed within two years and small grants of up to $1,000 for projects completed within 12 months ..... Full Story
| ScienceDaily (Oct. 29, 2008) — An estimated 2 million women in the United States are at risk of developing lymphedema, a condition that involves the chronic and abnormal swelling of the arm, chest, neck and/or back, as a complication of breast cancer treatment. While physicians will recommend proven techniques to manage the swelling, a University of Missouri researcher has found that patients often won’t follow the recommendations, or they will use alternative treatments and not discuss them with their doctors.
