Register Now for New Writing for Publication Program
Supported by a grant from the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, the NCEMNA Writing for Publication Program is accepting registration for the second cohort. Please email info@ncemna.org by Tuesday, February 23rd for complimentary registration information.

Led by Dr. Lorraine Steefel RN, a professional nurse writer and mentor, the program kicks off with a webinar on Tuesday March 2nd, 2010 at 4-6 p.m. PST (7-9 EST). It then continues with 8-weeks of writing activities including individual editorial consultations via phone and e-mail as well as a mid-term chat to guide participants in preparing their research for publishing in scientific publications and peer reviewed journals.

NCEMNA to Survey Mentees
Much of the work of NCEMNA has centered on developing a cadre of ethnic nurses to reflect the nation's diversity. This central goal has determined quite a bit of NCEMNA's programming over the past five years. Now it's time to see some results! As a function of our supplement grant from National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, NCEMNA will conduct our largest survey yet about the experiences and opportunities of 250 mentees of the Nurse Scientist Stimulation Program.

The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the impact of our program on the education, career, and research development of our mentees .....Full Story

NCEMNA President Featured in Minority Nurse

Dr. Antonia Villarruel, the new President of the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations (NCEMNA), is featured in this season's edition of Minority Nurse. The article, entitled "Taking the Helm," is all about NCEMNA's work and our new President.

AHRQ Announces Career Development Grants

In Fiscal Year 2010, AHRQ intends to support individual mentored and independent career-development grants (I.e., K01, K02, K08 grants) to doctorally-prepared clinicians and scientists interested in pursuing research careers related to the prevention and more effective management of health care associated infections (HAIs). The objective of individual career development grants is to provide support and "protected time" for an intensive, mentored or independent research career development experience .....Full Story
