|  Registration Extended for NCEMNA Webinar: Register Now | The National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations (NCEMNA) is privileged to have acclaimed educator and researcher in the field of gerontology /ethnogeriatrics and Associate Director Emerita of Stanford Geriatric Education Center (SGEC) at Stanford University School of Medicine, Melen McBride, PhD, MSN, RN, FGSA, lead the next NCEMNA Webinar. In "Exploring the Landscape: Focus Group Approach," Dr. McBride will share the secrets to the effective use of focus groups in research on March 23, 2010 at 4 - 6 p.m. PST (7 - 9 p.m. EST). Registrations will be accepted through March 18th.
As a function of the NCEMNA Nurse Scientist Stimulation Program which works to increase the number of ethnic minority nurse researchers, the webinars serve as a mechanism of support to engage ethnic nurse researchers at all career levels. NCEMNA launched a newly redesigned website at www.ncemna.org. With a new look and increased functionality, it has been enhanced to accommodate advanced technology and a web-based, professional-social networking system. At present, members of NCEMNA can search the member directory on the website and connect with one another on the NCEMNA Nurse Researcher Network at http://nursescience.ning.com. These upgrades will eventually enable nurse researchers to access, track, encourage, and support the program and each other directly on the NCEMNA main site.
NCEMNA also launched new profiles on social media sites including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We'd love to hear your thoughts on our new profiles ..... Full Story

With a long-standing commitment to research training and biomedical workforce development, National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks to ensure that training and career development activities most effectively meet current needs and anticipate emerging opportunities, and that they contribute to building a highly capable, diverse biomedical research workforce. As science, the conduct of research, and workforce needs evolve, NIGMS is requesting feedback to examine their existing activities and articulate strategies to help build and sustain the workforce that the nation needs for improving health and global competitiveness.

The Society Advancing Chicanos & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), a society of scientists dedicated to fostering the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists—from college students to professionals—in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership, is now accepting applications through April 15th for the week-long SACNAS Leadership Institute. Thirty participants will be selected from three levels: postdocs, junior faculty, and mid-career and will receive all expenses paid to the event.
