NINR, a component of the National Institutes of Health, is the Federal government's primary agency for the support of nursing research, placing great emphasis on research training to cultivate the next generation of nurse scientists and other biobehavioral researchers advancing nursing science .....Full Story


NCEMNA Mentee Survey Underway


NCEMNA is conducting our largest survey yet about the experiences and opportunities of 250 mentees of the Nurse Scientist Stimulation Program. Survey responses help NCEMNA evaluate the impact of the Nurse Scientist Stimulation Program on the education, career, and research development of mentees; enhance the mentoring program; help determine the shape of future programming; and aid us in acquiring additional funding and scholarship monies. The links to the survey have been sent out via email and we have received 35% returned thus far. For the remaining 65%, Survey Sciences Group, LLC, the survey administrator will begin follow up calls next week. Let's get those surveys in!

DHHS/HRSA Offers up to $40K in Faculty Loan Repayment


The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announces the opening of the 2010 Faculty Loan Repayment Program Application Cycle. Health professions faculty from disadvantaged backgrounds can receive as much as $40,000 towards repayment of their student loans in exchange for educating tomorrow's clinicians.

Individuals selected to participate in the program agree to serve on the faculty of an accredited health professions college or university for 2 years. The Government pays up to $40,000 of the participant's student loans and provides funds to offset the tax burden. Participants should also receive matching funds from their employing educational institution .....Full Story


AACN Launches the First National Centralized Application Service for Nursing Schools



The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) announced the launch of NursingCAS, the first national centralized application service for students applying to all types of registered nursing (RN) programs. Similar to services already in place for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and other health professions, NursingCAS (http://www.nursingcas.org) provides individuals with a convenient way to apply to nursing programs nationwide while serving as an important mechanism to fill vacant seats in schools of nursing.
