|  KC Nursing News reports on NCEMNA Mentor | The National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations (NCEMNA), a group of large nursing associations in the United States, provides mentors for ethnic minority nurses in order to develop nursing leaders and to provide scholarships for future nurse scientists.
Phoebe Dauz Williams, RN, Ph.D., FAAN, a pediatric nurse researcher and professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, accepted a 2006 Mentor Award, and an assignment to oversee the work of two mentees, at NCEMNA's second national conference, which was held in March at the Wyndham Chicago Hotel.
Williams received the mentoring invitation after she submitted her curriculum vitae to the coalition. She received the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) Nurse Researcher of the Year award, in 2000, and the KUMC Investigator Award in 1997. Williams also has received two Fulbright awards to study child and youth development.

HHS OFFICE OF MINORITY HEALTH AND BISHOP T.D. JAKES' MINISTRY THE POTTER'S HOUSE, PARTNER TO CHANGE THE COURSE OF HEALTH DISPARITIES AFFECTING MINORITY COMMUNITIES
A new partnership with Bishop T.D. Jakes' Ministry The Potter's House, to eliminate health disparities that affect racial and ethnic minority communities across the country was announced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Minority Health.
"Faith and community based organizations have been long recognized as trusted and compassionate helping hands reaching out to those who need it most," said Garth Graham, M.D., Deputy Assistant Secretary for Minority Health.
