July 11th, 2007 - Call For Abstracts

NCEMNA invites ethnic minority nurse researchers and students to submit abstracts for poster and paper presentation during its third annual conference. Abstracts of completed research will be considered for podium presentations. Research or work in progress will be considered for poster presentations. Abstracts focusing on expanding the knowledge base to alleviate health disparities of ethnic minority populations will be considered.

Deadline for Receipt of Submissions: Monday, November 19, 2007

Program Objectives: Develop an awareness of the state of the science with racial and ethnic minority populations. Appreciate the contribution of ethnic minority nurse scientists in addressing health disparities. Develop strategies to achieve excellence in research.

General Submission Guidelines: *
The abstract must be typed on the Abstract Submission Form using Microsoft Word in 12 point Times New Roman font The text of the abstract (300 words or less, single space) includes:
*Context or Background and Significance What is the importance of what you are doing? What gaps in research or practice are you trying to address?
*Objectives/Aims What is the purpose of the study, integrated review, or theoretical paper
*Methods For research, include sample size, design, methodology, analytic approach For integrative reviews, list sources of search, terms, dates, how analyzed For theoretical papers – describe approach (e.g. theory or concept analysis
*Results Concisely describe findings (e.g. statistical findings; themes, patterns, etc)
*Conclusions/Implications
Summarize important findings and describe next steps for research and/or practice

Complete the Abstract Submission Form: E-mail completed Abstract Submission and Presenter Form to: info@ncemna.org on or before Monday, November 19, 2007 (place “Abstract Submission” in e-mail subject line) Only those abstracts complying with submission guidelines will be reviewed.

Acceptance Notification: Submitting authors will be notified by e-mail on or before Monday, November 19, 2007. Authors whose abstracts are accepted for presentation must register for the conference. Presenters are responsible for all their expenses, including conference registration, travel, and lodging.
